Bright Fox Bringing Hollywood Touch To Irish Wedding Films

From producing critically acclaimed documentaries to glossy branded content and can’t-tear-your-eyes-away reality TV, Jonathan Henderson is bringing Hollywood flair to Irish weddings.

The Irish creative has worked as a TV producer, director, videographer, editor, and writer across his career in national television which spans over two decades.

With Bright Fox Wedding Films, he has turned his artistic might to wedding videography and he told EVOKE what couples can expect when they hire him to bring their big day to life on screen.

The Meath-based creative has always been drawn to wedding videography and the pandemic saw him seize his chance to turn that dream into a reality.

‘When COVID hit, people started thinking about different opportunities, their setup, and what they could do with their lives. I’d been eyeing up wedding films for a good few years,’ he said.

‘Weddings are one of the best working environments, they’re such brilliant events to be at. Everyone leaves the world at the door and they just enjoy themselves,’ he said.

Jonathan has produced work with RTÉ and Virgin Media, formally TV3, and he has headed up projects around Ireland, the UK, and Europe.

His diverse CV includes working on the production team for Tallafornia to the thought-provoking documentary Saving Ray.

A Shark Award winner, Jonathan has worked with hundreds of national and international brands, collaborating with award-winning agencies around the world, so taking a brief from page to screen is not a new challenge.

However worldly his experience is though, he has always been driven by an insatiable passion to tell people’s stories.

‘I’m a big people person and I love storytelling, so matching the ability to craft and tell stories and meeting different people, it’s a natural fit for me,’ he shared.

Jonathan is very people-focused in his filming style, his work celebrates the wedding couple and their guests who play such an integral role in making the memories of their day last a lifetime.

He explained: ‘Once somebody books in with me, I like to get to know them. I like to meet them in person and get a good understanding of what plans they have for their day and what it means to them.

‘Whatever the final film ends up being I do try my best to get as many of the guests and family into it in some capacity. They’re a big part of the day, they’re there for a very important reason. They’re loved ones, best friends and colleagues.

‘Part of my job is to make sure that I capture as many of the guests as I can, so those memories are stored in the film for the couple forever,’

‘So whenever they look back on their wedding film throughout the years, the people that were there will always remain there.’

The beauty is in the detail for Jonathan, where small moments shared between guests can speak volumes of the true joy experienced at a wedding.

‘You get a good feel for the characters that people are when you catch the right moment of them, like when a guest is breaking their heart laughing at a joke while they’re at the reception. You really get a glimpse of that person in that two or three-second shot that I capture,’ Jonathan highlighted.

While he has filmed in top wedding venues around Ireland, including the wonderfully romantic Station House Hotel in Meath, he has even made a trip to the White Chapel in glittering Las Vegas.

‘When the couple asked me to go to Vegas to film, I nearly bit their better arm off. What a place to film, it is just a visual feast, it’s a playground for adults,’ he reminisced.

The template of his wedding films is broken up into three parts, he handles the preparation of the day first, then the ceremony and the photoshoot and finally the speeches and the reception.

‘Couples put so much effort into planning their weddings, there is a world of stuff to work with and capture from the theme to the decorations, the food, the music, the personal touches. You can’t help but capture great stuff,’ Jonathan shared.

‘To be part of that world for that small amount of time, without days of filming, is great. You just get wrapped up in it all,’ he concluded.
